FOOTBALLDIARIES

It was Christmas Eve! We all planned for a morning game.

Here's some context:

People in my group have a really bad habit of coming late to games. (A lot of laziness I can safely say :p) And when it comes to morning games in winters, and in Delhi, you can imagine the level of laziness!!

Well, I signed up for the morning game knowing full well that my sleep cycle is a little screwed and I sleep well only in mornings. But for football, a thousand times over :)

The morning started with some giving wake up calls to others- TO MAKE THE GAME HAPPEN

While I was travelling for the game, 1.5 hour of travel in the cold, I texted my friend, "Remind me later why I sign up for morning games" because I was that sleepy!

But well, today is not about what I learnt from the game, it's about how I felt after the game that left me with such warmth on a cold winter morning :')

We all played, had fun and after the game ended, everyone had breakfast plans and what not. By the way, these after game elaborate plans aren't as likely when we play late evening games, and I was very happy about having Chhole Bhathure after an intense morning game

When everyone was chatting, giggling and getting clicked after the game, I was lying down on the ground, looking up at the beautiful clear blue sky. I could hear the happy voices around. That was the moment when I felt so warm in my heart, feeling lucky that I have a group like this to play with, grateful that I have football in my life.

And I just kept lying there, looking up and staying with that feeling, absorbing it within. That's when I knew why I came for the morning game. This game was about realizations..

It was about gratitude to universe and football, for giving me the gift to play football in this life and do so with such passion. It was about realizing the privilege I have: To make my life decisions revolve around football, and see my life through it; the privilege I have to play not just with a random group but a close knit group of people who care about each other, grow together through games unknowingly and learn so much from this beautiful beautiful sport!

If that's not love, passion and privilege, what is?
